LWDT Students See “Dance Theatre of Harlem”

Dance students at Lula Washington Dance Theatre (LWDT) got a real treat thanks to Councilmember Bernard Parks — they got to see a performance by Dance Theatre of Harlem.  Councilman Parks  donated 50 free tickets for students at the LWDT school to attend a performance by the famed ballet company at the  University of Southern California Feb. 3, 2010. Parks also provided a bus to pick up students from the LWDT studio and return them there afterwards. Students thoroughly enjoyed the concert. LWDT has many students who love ballet and hope to be ballet performers in the future. Past LWDT students have joined Dance Theatre of Harlem, and LWDT’s current teaching staff includes Ebony Haswell, a former member of DTH.

Councilman Parks has been a long time supporter of the Lula Washington Dance Theatre (LWDT). He previously presented a special Council Award to Lula Washington for her work in the community through her dance school, Youth Dance Company, and international touring dance company.
