Students Learn Classical Ballet Variations in New Class

Students at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre are learning choreographic variations from world reknown ballet dances thanks to a new new class being offered on Saturdays at 6 pm.

The “variations” class came from an idea by Tehran Dixon, who is ballet trained with a Bachelor’s degree in ballet pedagogy, and who also dances in the Lula Washington Dance Theatre (LWDT) company.

Tehran teaches ballet classes at the LWDT School, along with several other classically trained teachers. But, she felt it was important for students to go beyond normal classroom training, to learning choreography that is frequently done by ballet companies.

So far, students (and their parents) are loving the class. It is open to all young serious minded dancers who want to get stronger in ballet.
